How to Create a Temporary Email Address in 30 Seconds

Creating a temporary email address takes less time than filling in most sign-up forms. Here is the whole process, plus a few things worth knowing before you rely on it.
The steps
- Open TempMailHub. An address appears at the top of the page. There is nothing to register.
- Copy the address. Use the Copy button so you do not mistype it.
- Paste it into the form where the website asks for your email.
- Watch the inbox on the same page. It checks for new mail every few seconds. You can also press Refresh.
- Open the message when it arrives. If it contains a one-time code, the code is highlighted so you can copy it in one click.
That is the whole thing. If you want a different address, press Generate New.
Pick the right address type
Under Address options you can choose how the address is built.
- tempmailhub.tech is the default. It is the simplest option and works for most sign-ups.
- Gmail-style modes (dot, plus and googlemail.com) are there for sites that reject unfamiliar domains. See our guide to temporary Gmail addresses for how they differ.
If you are not sure, start with the default. Switch modes only if the site refuses the address.
What a temporary address is good for
- Downloading a file that asks for an email first
- Free trials you do not plan to keep
- One-time codes and confirmation links
- Keeping a store or newsletter from getting your real address
What it is not good for
Do not use a temporary address for banking, healthcare, or any account you may need to recover later. Anyone who knows or guesses an address can open its inbox, so treat everything sent there as semi-public.
A temporary address also does not make you anonymous to the site. It only keeps your real email out of the sign-up.
If the email does not arrive
Wait a minute, check the address for typos, and press Refresh. Some websites block disposable domains and never send anything. Our troubleshooting guide goes through the checks in order.
When to use something else
If you want to keep the account, use an alias on your own mailbox instead. What is an email alias? explains how that works and when it is the better choice.
